As a Filipino living outside of Naga, I feel nothing but admiration for what Mayor Leni Robredo is doing in her hometown. On July 1, 2025, she signed Executive Order No. 1, enforcing a Zero Tolerance Policy Against Corruption, a move that could easily become the benchmark for local governments across the country.
This isn’t just a symbolic gesture. The order directly bans inflated project costs, kickbacks, altered time records, misuse of government vehicles, and politically influenced hiring. Walang palusot, walang padrino system, walang kompromiso sa integridad.

Under this policy, even small acts like using government gasoline for personal errands or skipping proper bidding for supplies are now strictly prohibited. Lahat ng iregularidad, ipinagbabawal. Lahat ng kalokohan, dapat itigil.
As someone watching from afar, I can’t help but hope – sana all. Sana all mayors have the same political will. Sana all public servants serve with this level of clarity, conviction, and courage.
Mayor Leni’s return to the grassroots reminds us what public service truly means: putting people first, upholding the law, and restoring trust in government. Naga City isn’t just making a statement – it’s setting a national example.
To every city and municipality: if you’re serious about change, start here. Follow Naga’s lead. Because real governance isn’t about slogans – it’s about action.
Kung kaya ng Naga, kaya rin ng buong Pilipinas. And thanks to leaders like Leni Robredo, we’re reminded that honest leadership is still alive – and still possible.
