Another milestone for Philippine cinema! The Food Delivery documentary, Fresh from the West Philippine Sea, proudly brought home the Tides of Change Award at the Doc Edge Film Festival in Auckland, New Zealand.
Directed by Baby Ruth Villarama and written, produced, and edited by Chuck Gutierrez, Food Delivery dives into the lives of Filipino fisherfolk navigating environmental and territorial challenges in the West Philippine Sea. This powerful documentary sheds light on the human cost of maritime conflict and environmental exploitation, giving voice to communities often left unheard.

The Doc Edge Film Festival is one of the Pacific’s premier documentary showcases, spotlighting stories that inspire change and celebrate global diversity. Winning the Tides of Change Award places Food Delivery among world-class narratives pushing for environmental awareness and social justice.
The Food Delivery documentary was made possible through the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP)’s International Film Festival Assistance Program, which supports Filipino filmmakers representing the country on global stages. In a statement, FDCP praised the team, saying the film “amplifies the voices that matter.”
“This is not just a win for the filmmakers, but a victory for the Filipino story,” FDCP emphasized.
This recognition underscores the role of Philippine documentaries in sparking global conversations about sovereignty, sustainability, and survival.
